Cosas que ver y hacer en Pamplona Have you visited Pamplona, capital of the kingdom of Navarra? or well, now the region of Navarra. Most of us have heard about the famous running of the bulls or San Fermín Festival, but this beautiful city has a lot more to offer than bulls and partying. So, any time is a good time to visit Pamplona (especially during warm weather). If you’re making a trip through Spain I advise you to take a minimum of 2 whole days for Pamplona. We made the trip from the southwest of France by car which is relatively close as well. Here is a list of the top things to see & do in Pamplona!
The Grand Canyon [El Cañon de Colorado]
I have been twice to the Grand Canyon and it never ceases to amaze me. I found it even more impressive the second time. It’s a place in which you feel tiny, a place “outside” of this world – literally since you feel like you’re on Mars or another planet – and makes you realize just how huge the Earth is.
Hiking La Rhune in the Pyrenees [ Montando La Rhune en los Pirineos]
One of my favorite pastimes and that of many people in the Southeast region of France is hiking in the mountains. A couple of weeks ago, we decided to hike La Rhune, a summit from which you can see the Atlantic Ocean and cities like: Saint Jean De Luz and Hendaye on the French side, and Hondarribia in the Spanish side.
Bilbao, Basque Country [País Vasco]
A major city in the autonomous community of the basque Country and the city of pintxos! When we arrived to Bilbao we didn’t have an exact plan on what to do, besides the Guggenheim Museum. And that is exactly what I love about Spain, you don’t really need to do a lot planning… just pack your bags and go. The rest just happens!
Sin City, Vegas [La Ciudad del Pecado, Las Vegas]
Anyone said bachelorette party? Last march one of my best friends got married, and to celebrate we decided to go to the “Sin City,” Las Vegas, Nevada. Nine girls ready to enjoy a weekend in one of the party capitals of the world. So we packed our bags for a long weekend trip and got on that plane! Like good Colombians, we made sure that this trip paid off in fun and money. We stayed at The venetian hotel, where we reserved 2 rooms for the 9 of us and were lucky enough to have them be conjoined rooms. The rooms were super big, we could have easily fit 3 more people in each!
Camping in the Pyrénées [Acampando en los Pirineos]
Since I arrived in Pau, we had been talking about going camping in the Pyrenees, and we finally made time to do it. Before going on the trip we went to the Decathlon (a French store where hey sell outdoor and sports stuff) and bought a few things to be fully prepared. [Versión en español abajo]
Weekend in Bordeaux [Fin de semana en Burdeos]
This past weekend I finally had the opportunity to go to Bordeaux for my first time. The actual reason we went was to see Muse play that Thursday night at a festival, Garo Rock, near Bordeaux in Marmande. Our plan was to rent a house though Airbnb, and sleep close to Marmande the night of the concert; then the following day head to Bordeaux to spend the rest of the weekend there. Valencia [More than just Oranges]
Two weeks ago, it was my boyfriend’s birthday. Since in France that Thursday was a holiday, we decided to take a trip over the long weekend. Our destination: Valencia, España! Being in the South of France, Spain is very close and it’s a very economical destination. To be honest, I knew very little about Valencia other than… oranges! However, I came upon a big city with the heart of a small town, where history and traditions live with innovation and globalization. A city that has more than oranges to offer to this world – even though I do love oranges. [Versión en español abajo]
