L’Année France – Colombie 2017 [El Año Francia – Colombia]

The France – Colombia Year or L’Année France – Colombie,  is an initiative launched by the French government. Every year since 1987 the French government chooses a country with whom to make an intercultural exchange and diversify relationships between both countries. For 2017, the chosen one was Colombia, the second Latin American nation ever be chosen.

The year is divided in two halves, in the first semester France will have a presence in Colombia through a cultural, economic, scientific, and sports program, among others. On the second half of the year, Colombia will have presence in France. This will be an opportunity for Colombia to share its culture and traditions with France and to show Europeans that are country has a lot more to offer than the violence, poverty, and drug problems that are the constant talking point of our nation and erroneously perceived as all that Colombia has to offer.

El Año Francia – Colombia o L’Année France – Colombie , es una iniciativa lanzada por el gobierno francés. Desde 1987, cada año, el gobierno francés escoge a un país con quien hacer un intercambio cultural y diversificar relaciones entre ambos países. Para el año 2017, el elegido fue Colombia, el segundo país de Latino America en ser elegido después de Brasil.

El año esta dividido en dos mitades, en el primer semestre Francia tendrá presencia en Colombia por medio de programas culturales, científicos, y deportivos, entre otros. En la segunda mitad del año, Colombia tendrá presencia en Francia. Esta será una oportunidad para Colombia de compartir su cultura y tradiciones con Francia, y mostrarle a los europeos que nuestro país tiene mucho mas que dar que la violencia, pobreza, y problemas de droga los cuales son constantemente puntos de conversación y erróneamente perecidos como la única y verdadera cara de Colombia.
